EN 379 — Automatic welding filters
Covers auto-darkening filters that switch from a light to a dark shade when the arc strikes. The marking also grades optical quality and how evenly the filter darkens.
Reading the marking: Light and dark shades, e.g. 4/9-13, then four digits (1 best, 3 lowest) for optical class, light diffusion, luminous transmittance variation and angle dependence, e.g. 1/1/1/2.
EN 175 — Equipment for eye and face protection during welding and allied processes
Applies to welding helmets and hand-held welding shields: materials, coverage, heat and spatter resistance. The filter lens itself is covered by EN 169 or EN 379.
