EN 3-7 — Portable fire extinguishers: characteristics, performance requirements and test methods
Defines the fire-test ratings, discharge performance and operating temperature range of portable extinguishers up to 20 kg. Compare ratings, not just agent weight, when selecting extinguishers.
Reading the marking: Rating = number plus fire class, e.g. 43A 233B: A solids, B flammable liquids, C gases, D metals, F cooking oils. A 'dielectric test' marking shows the extinguisher passed the 35 kV test for use near live equipment up to 1000 V at 1 m.
