EN ISO 20471 — High visibility clothing
Specifies the fluorescent background and retroreflective material needed for workers to be seen by drivers and plant operators in day and night conditions.
Reading the marking: Class 3 (at least 0.80 m² background, 0.20 m² reflective), Class 2 (0.50 m² and 0.13 m²), Class 1 (0.14 m² and 0.10 m²). The class is set by the garment's visible area, and combining garments, e.g. jacket and trousers, can raise it.
EN 343 — Protective clothing: protection against rain
Rates rainwear for water penetration and breathability. Breathability matters in hot climates, where non-breathable rainwear quickly causes heat strain.
Reading the marking: Water penetration class 1-4 and water vapour resistance (breathability) class 1-4; higher is better. R = optional rain tower test on the whole garment.
