• IEC 61482-2Live working: protective clothing against the thermal hazards of an electric arc

  Covers arc-flash clothing. Performance is tested either by the open-arc method (giving a cal/cm² rating) or the box test (giving a class).

  Reading the marking: ATPV or EBT in cal/cm² (open arc, IEC 61482-1-1); APC 1 (4 kA) or APC 2 (7 kA) (box test, IEC 61482-1-2).

• NFPA 70EStandard for electrical safety in the workplace

  US standard for electrical safe work practices, including arc-flash risk assessment and selection of arc-rated PPE.

  Reading the marking: PPE categories 1 to 4 require minimum arc ratings of 4, 8, 25 and 40 cal/cm² respectively.
