Fire Fighting & Fire Protection
Buying guide
Emergency lighting and signs guide people to safety when normal lighting fails. Products should meet EN 1838, EN 60598-2-22, ISO 7010 and ISO 16069 as applicable.
EN 1838 sets minimum illuminance on escape routes and open areas. Check rated duration (typically 1 or 3 hours) to suit your evacuation plan.
Emergency luminaires to EN 60598-2-22 should have a rated ambient temperature suited to the location. High heat shortens battery life.
Use ISO 7010 pictograms, such as E001 and E002 for emergency exits. Photoluminescent signs and ISO 16069 low-level guidance work without power.
Fire blankets to EN 1869 suit kitchens and small fires; place them near exits from the risk area.
Test emergency lights monthly and conduct a full-duration test annually, or use self-test luminaires that log results.
