Buying guide
Vehicle and pedestrian conflicts are a leading cause of serious injury on industrial sites. Traffic equipment should match the vehicle speed, the visibility conditions and how long the arrangement will stay in place.
Cones to EN 13422 have defined stability and retroreflective sleeves for night use. Use taller cones (750 mm or more) on roads and higher-speed routes, and smaller cones for car parks and indoor areas.
Water-filled barriers give visible traffic separation and are heavy when filled, but they are not rated crash barriers unless certified as such. Chain-and-post and retractable belt barriers are for pedestrian guidance only.
Convex mirrors improve visibility at blind corners and gate exits; choose size by viewing distance. Bolt-down speed humps reduce speeds in pedestrian areas.
PVC and polyethylene fade and become brittle in strong sun; choose UV-stabilised products. Weighted bases or ballast keep cones and barriers stable in strong winds and vehicle draft.
Replace cones and barriers that are faded, cracked or have lost reflective material, as their visibility at night drops sharply.
