Standards explained

• ANSI/ISEA Z358.1American National Standard for emergency eyewash and shower equipment

  Sets flow, duration, location and water temperature requirements for emergency showers and eyewash. Units must be reachable within about 10 seconds and deliver tepid water for 15 minutes.

  Reading the marking: Eyewash at least 1.5 L/min (0.4 gpm); shower at least 75.7 L/min (20 gpm); tepid water 16-38 °C; weekly activation test and annual inspection.

• EN 15154Emergency safety showers

  European series for emergency showers and eyewash units, both plumbed and self-contained.

  Reading the marking: Part 1 plumbed body showers for laboratories; Part 2 plumbed eyewash units; Part 3 non-plumbed body showers; Part 4 non-plumbed eyewash units.
