EN ISO 20345 — Personal protective equipment: safety footwear
Covers safety footwear with a toecap tested to 200 J impact and 15 kN compression. Classes combine basic features so buyers can match footwear to wet, oily or penetration hazards.
Reading the marking: SB = basic toecap protection. S1 = closed heel, antistatic, heel energy absorption. S1P = S1 plus perforation resistance (PS or PL for non-metal inserts in the 2022 edition). S2 = S1 plus water penetration resistance. S3 = S2 plus perforation resistance and cleated outsole. S5 = polymer (moulded) S3 equivalent. In the 2022 edition S6 and S7 add whole-boot water resistance. Extra marks: HRO heat-resistant outsole (300 °C contact), HI heat insulation, CI cold insulation, WR water-resistant footwear, M metatarsal, SR (2022) or SRA/SRB/SRC (2011) slip resistance.
